Treats are Great Addition to any Care Package

Mar 15

A lot of people give gifts to loved ones during special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, or Christmas. But you don’t have to wait for those occasions to show a loved one you care. Instead, you can put together a Care Packages for seniors that lets them know you’re thinking of them – even when you can’t be there to see them. Care packages are a heartwarming way to show your care and affection for your senior friend or family member, especially when they’re struggling with isolation.

When putting together your care package, be sure to consider the recipient’s dietary needs and personal care requirements. Also, consider whether they’re able to leave their home or are confined to a wheelchair or bed for much of the time. Doing this can help you narrow down your list of options so that you can choose items that they’ll actually enjoy and benefit from.

If your loved one is unable to leave their room or wheelchair, activities are key to preventing boredom. Include fun activities in your care package, such as activity books, puzzles, Sudoku, word finds, or a deck of cards. Alternatively, you can add entertainment-related gifts that will keep them connected to their favorite movies, TV shows, or music. Subscriptions to streaming services, gift cards, or e-books are all good choices for this.

Comfort items are also a great addition to any care package. This could be a lap blanket or throw, fuzzy socks or slippers, a journal with special pens, a knitted scarf, a Himalayan salt lamp, or decorative plants and flowers. You can even add a framed photo of your loved one, something handmade, or a handwritten card to make the package extra personal and meaningful.

Treats are another great addition to any care package, as long as your recipient’s dietary restrictions allow it. Add their favorite snacks, such as flavored popcorn, candy, or tea, to their care package. They may enjoy sharing them with caregivers or other residents at their assisted living retirement community.

You can also add personal care products to your care package, such as lotion, scented soap, or bath salts. This is a great way to pamper your loved one, and many elderly care packages are filled with these types of items.

Finally, don’t forget to include a letter. This is the most important part of any care package. It can tell your loved one how much you care about them, update them on the goings-on of your life and the family, or simply reassure them that you are there for them. You can write it yourself or have your children or grandchildren do so. This is a special and heartwarming way to show your loved one that you’re thinking of them, and they will appreciate it even more knowing that the message was crafted with love.
